I was born November 29th, 1960 in San Jose, Costa Rica, where I attended the German school until graduating in 1978. I then began a study of electronics at a technical university, continued that study when I moved to Germany in 1981, and received my engineer grade in 1985. It was at that time that I became interested in photography. Initially, my photography was simply to document the trips I was taking. One of those trips was to Kenya in 1988, and from that moment on I knew I had found a special interest in nature photography. Since then, my travels have taken me to Australia, America, Africa and other parts of our planet to photograph its natural wounders. Beginning in 1993, I started to get my pictures and stories published. The leading German nature photography magazine "Fotografie Draussen" (today called "NaturFoto") accepted articles and pictures for several of their issues, and a German birding magazine, "Die Voliere", selected one of my images as the title page for their April 1996 issue.

My biggest success and recognition of my photographic work has been with an image submitted to the BBC's and the Natural History Museum's yearly nature photography contest 'Wildlife Photographer of the Year 1997'. I was selected as 'Highly Commended' in the category 'Garden and Urban Wildlife', and that image can be seen at the e-mail page.
